From the ancient period, the social customs of Bangladesh based on agriculture. 51% people in the rural area lives on agriculture. On the other hand, often 22 % support of GDP comes from agriculture sector and agricultural people specially marginal and micro level farmers obtain the agriculture as the key power of their livelihood. Sixty four percent farmers of Bangladesh manage 37% of their productive land. According to the statistics, 41% peoples are living under the poverty line those who have multifarious working experience, productivity and well qualified. The marginal and small farmers are the barrier in the development of Bangladesh in the socio-economic condition especially in the economic development of agriculture for the lack of proper support in the agricultural investment, natural disaster, insufficiency of land, modern technology in the agriculture and agricultural materials. As a result, they are losing their visual resources and they are involving gradually in the poor people in the country. The nature of poverty is multi-dimensional and in Bangladesh it has four main causes: lack of economic opportunities, low human capabilities, disempowerment and high insecurity. The extreme poor in particular lack the power to change their situation themselves for the following broad reasons: social position (social status; ethnic, religious, economic and gender discrimination); human conditions (low/irregular income, lack of education and skills, lack of livelihoods opportunity, no access to working capital, high vulnerability to risks); institutional environment (weak governance and justice, inadequate social security system, exclusive attitude and lack of responsiveness from elites and other stakeholders). In Bangladesh, about half of population live below the national poverty line with the majority living on less than $1 a day. Women are still being oppressed and children abused in Bangladesh. Women remain inferior to Men and under-represented. Poverty and Hunger in Bangladesh is so extreme that about half of the children in Bangladesh are underweight and malnurished. According to FAO, currently about 45% population in Bangladesh are below the poverty level while around 20% are extreme poor. SKS will give attention to implement development intervention for uplifting the extreme poor households from poverty line.
Untouched Harizon community consists of cobbler, sweeper, dome etc still remain socially excluded by other communities. They are the most disadvantaged and isolated community who cannot take part in any social activities. Adivasi people are also excluded from the main stream of development. Strategy:
Bangladesh is a highly patriarchal society and gender discrimination is present at all community levels. Women are dependent on men throughout their lives, from father through husbands to sons. While there are constitutional affirmations of gender equality, state legislation and institutions frequently overlook the rights of women. For example, women and young girls are more disadvantaged than men in their access to education, health care and financial assets. Traditionally, women were often discouraged from participating in public life. Women’s access to social, economic, political and legal institutions is mediated by men. Women are mainly recognised only for their reproductive role. However, due to increased poverty and an increased demand for labour, female employment has risen since the mid 1980’s. Men’s authority over women is reinforced by pervasive gender-based violence. SKS should work on changing patriarchal attitude and reducing gender discrimination through community driven initiatives.

Sensitize and activate the community peoples on gender issue.
Major activities:
- Mass awareness creation on gender and development issue.

Parents will be made aware to send their children to school and continue education.
